What we offer in schools

Based in Hackney, ecoACTIVE works with schools in London to promote awareness of sustainable development and translate it into practical environmental action.

EcoACTIVE Education Officers can deliver the following options in your school:

  • 20 minute ASSEMBLIES on the following themes: waste & recycling; composting; climate change and energy issues; water conservation; biodiversity and school grounds and healthy living.
  • INSET sessions with teachers on how to set up sustainability initiatives in school, e.g. composting and recycling systems or to support introduction of the Eco Schools initiative

  • Ongoing support for the Eco Schools or DCSF Sustainable Schools initiatives

  • Support for setting up, running and supporting a pupil green team or eco-council

  • GREEN CHAMPIONS PROJECTS where we work with one class over a period of 5 x 2hr sessions (either during one week or over one half term), enabling the students to become Green Champions leading a school campaign on a chosen theme (e.g. waste & recycling; composting; climate change and energy issues; water conservation; healthy living). They then publicise their initiative through a whole school assembly or event.
  • TASTER WORKSHOPS - 1½ to 2 hours duration (select from the following topics):
