EcoACTIVE welcomes applications from all sections of the community, including ex- offenders, as part of its equal opportunities policy. EcoACTIVE works directly with the public so not only clients, but also ex-offenders, might be in a potentially vulnerable position unless consideration of a person’s background has been made from the outset. Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 Certain occupations are exempt from the provisions of this Act, but as you may be in regular contact at ecoACTIVE with people under the age of 18 years or over the age of 65, people who are blind, deaf, have a learning difficulty or have mental illness, YOU ARE REQUIRED BY LAW to give brief details of any previous conviction even though ‘spent’ under the Act. If you have a declared criminal conviction that has some bearing on your role at ecoACTIVE, this will be discussed with you at your interview and it does not necessarily preclude your being accepted as a volunteer.
