Sustainability Training for Staff
Staff Carbon Literacy Training equips educators and school staff with the essential knowledge and practical tools needed to lead environmental action within their institution. Participants will explore foundational climate science, global policy frameworks, and personal carbon footprinting across six key dimensions of daily life. Moving from individual awareness to institutional impact, the session guides staff through embedding sustainability into the curriculum, managing organizational Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and completing accredited Carbon Literacy pledges that directly feed into their school's Climate Action Plan.
Learning Intentions
Climate Science & Policy: Understand current trends in climate science, ecological impacts, climate justice, and international frameworks.
Carbon Literacy & Emissions: Analyze greenhouse gas (GHG) drivers, evaluate carbon footprints, and identify high-impact reduction strategies across 6 core life dimensions.
Institutional Action: Learn how educational settings construct Climate Action Plans (CAP), address Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and adopt a whole-school approach to curriculum integration and nature connection.
Success Criteria
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
Calculate personal carbon footprints and identify primary emission drivers.
Formulate and pledge one individual and one workplace action to shrink their footprint.
Outline key strategies for reaching net-zero within individual and organizational contexts.
