ecoACTIVE’s 2025 Impact Report: Growing Community, Connection and Climate Action

We believe that real change starts in our communities, with young people getting their hands in the soil, neighbours reconnecting in shared green spaces, and schools embedding sustainability into everyday learning. Our 2025 Impact Report is a celebration of just that: the collective action, partnerships, and passion that fuel our mission.

In 2025 we had the privilege of working with over 3,113 young people and 646 adults across 9 London boroughs. From Forest Schools to buzzing community gardens, and from youth-led environmental projects to biodiversity initiatives like the Hackney Buzzline, each programme is rooted in a deep belief that education, empowerment, and nature are key to climate resilience.

Impact Stoies

On July the 3rd, we concluded our garden project at Harris Science Academy. The project has had an incredible lasting and inspiring impact on the pupils involved. We started with an empty terrace in January, which has now truly been transformed into a vibrant, green hub that reflects the pupils’ ideas, efforts, and care. It's been remarkable to witness their sense of pride and ownership grow alongside the plants they’ve nurtured.

Watch the story of how an concrete car park by the River Lea was transformed into a thriving wildlife garden at Leaside. Built with volunteers, reclaimed materials, and a lot of hard work in all weathers, this project is now part of the Hackney Buzzline

In May 2025 we opened the Golden Girls Memory Garden, a pollinator-friendly space in the Kingsmead Estate on the Hackney Buzzline. We’ve created the garden in memory of three women - Carol, June and Wendy - who lived on the estate. Over 50 relatives, friends, residents, and volunteers came together in a joyous celebration of the Golden Girls’ lives, families, and community. They brought food, drink, memories, much laughter, and a few tears.

Residents of Hackney’s Nightingale Estate have been working hard to green up a corner of their estate which was formerly dominated by parked cars. Possible supported them to create a beautiful parklet on Napoleon Road to create a meeting space for residents The residents designed the parklet which was then built by Giambrone Design in summer 2024 across two former parking spaces. The Nightingale estate parklet forms part of the Hackney Buzzline, a pollinator corridor managed by ecoActive. Linking four parks in Hackney, the Buzzline will create a flower rich corridor to conserve and boost local bee and butterfly populations.

But we can’t do it alone. Here’s how you can be part of the change:
