Designed for beginner gardeners and those wanting to brush up their skills, the session includes live demonstrations and hands‑on gardening in the Core Arts Community Garden behind St Barnabas’ Church.
Tools are provided and the site is wheelchair accessible. Please dress for outdoor conditions. Tea and coffee are provided, with toilets available at nearby Homerton Library.

Want free plants? This plant propagation workshop in Hackney shows how easy it is to grow new plants from cuttings. Using semi‑ripe and basal cutting techniques, you’ll learn practical skills supported by simple science.
The session includes demonstrations, guided practice, information sheets, and cuttings to take home, all set within the Core Arts community garden.
The site is wheelchair accessible, tools are supplied, and refreshments are provided. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing. Toilets are available at Homerton Library.
Drought‑Resilient Gardening Workshop: Water – Getting Ready for a Hot Summer

Climate change and extreme weather are reshaping how we garden in cities. This drought‑resilient gardening workshop in London focuses on practical water‑saving techniques used across Core Landscapes’ green spaces in Homerton.
Participants will take part in a guided walking tour of multiple nearby sites, exploring rainwater harvesting, soil care, plant choice, and irrigation systems, including solar‑powered solutions. There is plenty of time for questions, discussion, and shared learning.
The walk covers several sites within short walking distance. Fold‑up chairs can be provided at each stop if required. Tea and coffee are provided, with toilets available at Homerton Library.

Core Landscapes is a Core Arts project transforming underused green spaces to support positive mental health while responding to the climate change and biodiversity emergencies. Their gardeners use creative, sustainable growing practices, including up‑cycling, recycling, and organic methods, to make gardens thrive in urban environments.
